Adam Ashten is an alternative singer/songwriter, born and raised on Vancouver Island, Canada. Music is nothing new to Adam when it comes to writing songs and performing. His interest in music started at a young age, influenced by bands such as Tom Petty, Silverchair, Oasis, Nirvana, and Phil Collins.
He formed his first band at the age of 13. They started playing clubs and released their first EP at 15 years old. Adam has continued writing and releasing music over the years, best known for his band Afterglow, that gained interest from some of the top indie labels in the country.
After years of the band building a following, and the rapid changes in the music industry, the band went their separate ways.
Adam then stepped back from music for the first time ever since starting his career. He faced challenges with his mental health and tried telling himself he was done with music for the next 8 years.
It wasn’t until 2020, when Adam had a 3 month period off his day job due to the pandemic, where he started writing songs steadily again with the support of his wife and young daughter.
In 2021, with a more positive outlook on his music career and solid hired musicians backing him, he began to record in the studio with longtime engineer/producer Rick Salt.
With a whole new plan of staying independent, he has taken on the role of marketing, manager, and media which includes a 7 day social media plan and releasing a single every month. He released his first single and music video “Upside Down” in October 2022 receiving over 5,000 streams on Spotify and over 1300 views on the music video.
His follow up single “Names”, released in November, received over 19,000 streams on Spotify and over 2,000 views on the music video.
In December, he released his third single “Worth A Feeling” receiving over 24,000 streams on Spotify and over 1700 views on the music video.
Starting in the new year, January 2023, with over 16,000 monthly listeners on Spotify, he released his fourth single “Stuck In Your Ways”
Adam has also started a community called “It’s Only Us” as being an independent artist means it only works with all of us together.
With a lifetime of writing songs, his catchy hooks and melodies are stronger than ever, and with the focus to help people with music and staying independent, he’s definitely and artist to watch for.
